At Alver Academy, we believe that effective tuition must be tailored to the individual. No two students learn in the same way, and no two exam journeys are identical. That’s why every course begins with a clear understanding of the student’s current level, target grades, and exam requirements.
We request information such as previous exam papers, mock results, or teacher feedback where available. This allows us to identify strengths, pinpoint knowledge gaps, and plan lessons that focus on the areas that will have the greatest impact on progress.

Lessons are carefully structured to optimise revision time, ensuring students are not simply covering content, but learning how to apply their knowledge effectively in exams.
Experienced, Subject-Specialist Tuition
Tuition at Alver Academy is delivered by Selvi Alver, an experienced science teacher with over half a decade of experience working in schools rated Outstanding by OFSTED. Selvi has held senior leadership roles, including Head of Biology and Director of Science, giving her a deep understanding of curriculum design and progression.

As an examiner, Selvi is highly skilled at identifying common misconceptions, gaps in understanding, and weaknesses in exam technique. This insight allows lessons to focus not only on content, but on how students should structure answers, interpret questions, and secure marks.
Tuition for Home Schooling
Home education offers flexibility and independence — but science can sometimes feel challenging to structure without specialist support.
Alver Academy provides personalised one-to-one science tuition for home-educated students across the UK, supporting learners from KS2 through to GCSE. Lessons are adapted to your child’s pace, learning style, and academic goals — whether building foundations or preparing for UK exam boards.
We work alongside families to provide structure, clarity, and confidence, without replacing your home education approach.
International Students
Studying for UK qualifications outside the UK can feel challenging, particularly when navigating unfamiliar exam structures, command words, and mark schemes.
Alver Academy provides structured, one-to-one online science tutoring for international students following UK exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel, and OCR. Lessons focus not only on subject knowledge, but on understanding how to succeed within the UK exam system.
We support students worldwide with clear explanations, exam-focused practice, and personalised guidance tailored to their academic background.
Face-to-Face Tuition
Our one-to-one, in-person lessons provide a stimulating and inclusive learning environment where students benefit from direct interaction and immediate feedback. These sessions allow the tutor to adapt explanations in real time and ensure students feel supported throughout the lesson.
Face-to-face tuition is particularly suitable for students based in London and those who benefit from working with physical resources. Students attending in-person lessons are provided with printed topic booklets, exercise books, and folders to support structured learning.
Online Science Courses

Age Groups We Support
Alver Academy offers science tuition for students in Years 7 to 13, covering Key Stage 3, GCSE, and A-Level. Our structured approach ensures content is age-appropriate and aligned with curriculum expectations at each stage.
While our primary focus is secondary education, we are also able to provide science tutoring to students in primary school where appropriate, supporting early understanding and confidence building.
Lesson Duration & Commitment
Lessons are a minimum of one hour, allowing sufficient time for explanation, practice, and feedback. For students studying GCSE or A-Level, we recommend two hours of tuition per week to support consistent progress.
Students looking for additional support or longer sessions can be accommodated, subject to availability. Lesson frequency and duration can be adjusted as exam periods approach.
